Box-Killer Brownies
These chocolatey brownies are so easy to make, you’ll no longer be tempted to make them from a box!
Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, plus additional for the pan
1 cup baking cocoa or cacao powder
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons Diamond kosher salt (or 1 teaspoon table salt)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup roughly chopped walnuts, optional
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter bottom and sides of a 9 X 13 cake pan or rectangular glass baking dish.
2
In a medium glass mixing bowl, heat sugar and butter in a microwave, stirring halfway through, until both are melted.
3
Add the cocoa and stir until cocoa is fully incorporated and the mixture is free of any lumps.
4
Add eggs and vanilla and stir until combined.
5
Add the flour, but do not stir it in yet. Measure the baking powder and salt, placing on top of the measured flour in the mixing bowl. Stir these dry ingredients all at once into the chocolate mixture. Add walnuts if desired.
6
Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 22 to 28 minutes, just until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Do not overbake.
