Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
For a fancy cupcake shop finish, use this buttercream to top these favorite Vanilla Cupcakes using a size 1M cake decorating tip.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
6 to 8 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
pinch of salt
1/2 cup whole milk
Instructions

In a medium bowl, or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, beat the butter until light and fluffy.

Add 6 cups of confectioners sugar, vanilla, and salt. Then slowly add the milk while continuing to mix. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and whisk until light and fluffy. (If you’d like to color your frosting, now is the best time to add food coloring in case you need to adjust for thickness.)

If the frosting is too loose, add additional powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, until the desired thickness is achieved. It should be very light and fluffy, but needs to keep its form when piped onto a cupcake.
